About Us

Berwick upon Tweed is the most northerly constituency in the North East, and the second largest in England. Covering an area of 1,000 square miles, it is steeped in history, and boasts both beautiful and varied scenery, from coast to countryside. Traditional industries were farming and fishing, with tourism increasingly important to the area.

To the north is the town of Berwick upon Tweed, with its famous walls and exciting history, spreading down through the rural areas of  Norham, Wooler and Bamburgh.

The Alnwick District takes in Rothbury, and the National Park areas, Shilbottle, Longhouton, Lesbury, and coastal Amble, also Alnwick itself, the town voted in Country Life Magazine as the Best Place to Live in Britain 2002

The furthest south district is Castle Morpeth, which contains part of Ponteland, Longhorsley, Ulgham and Lynemouth. From 1st January 2007, the village of Belsay and surrounding hamlets will also be joining the Berwick Constituency following a boundary change.

The Conservative Association of Berwick upon Tweed is affiliated to the National Conservative Party, and consists of an elected executive from 15 branches, each covering at least one ward area, plus a small but developing Conservative Future branch made up of members under 30 from throughout the constituency.

Campaigning is an important part of the Association's work, and a lively and varied social diary is the main means of fundraising. The ever growing local membership is made up of people from many walks of life. The aim of our Association is to end thirty years of inaction through Liberal Democrat control, and give a real and effective voice to the people of  Northumberland, as part of a Conservative Government from the next general election.

We believe that this is achievable, building on the success at the last local elections in May 207, where in Alnwick District we progressed from two Councillors at the previous election to 9.

Come and join us and help us to return a Conservative MP to Berwick constituency at the next General Election.  Come and be part of a winning team.  Contact us through the website or by e-mailing our political spokesman on anne-marie@berwickconservatives.com .
